Superior Trap & Gun Club Meeting

Call to Order
Jocko Fairchild, President, called the meeting to order at 6:45 PM.
Approval of March 9, 2010 Minutes
A motion was made by Doug Vana and seconded by Larry Brooke to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2010 meeting. Motion carried.
Treasurer's Report
The Treasurer's report was presented &: filed as follows:
Checking & Savings: $2,163.17 -- Junior Shooters: $416.86 --
Total Cash on Hand: $2,580.86
Old Business
Junior League Program: Rick Washkuhn reported that he approached the Douglas County Fish and Game League for youth funding. Doug Vana will bring it up at the next Fish and Game League meeting which is to be held in May and get back to Rick Washkuhn.
Trap Club Camera Purchase: Jocko Fairchild spoke with Sam Jacobson regarding the purchase of a camera. Sam suggested that we look at purchasing a camera in the area of $150.00. In light of the summer league just beginning this week, a motion was made by Larry Brooke and seconded by Pat Martineau to table the discussion on purchasing a camera until the next meeting. Motion carried.
Patterning Board: No final decision was made on the building of a patterning board. The design and materials are still be looked into.
Lead Reclamation: Jocko Fairchild reported that the lead reclamation project is still being looked into. After a brief discussion, it was decided that although the field is still wet, we should prepare the property. Kirk Krause made a motion to have Wayne’s brother ditch the field for the reclamation project as soon as possible. Jerry Bolin seconded the motion. Motion carried.
New Business
Myrt Wester Shoot: A brief discussion took place regarding changing the doubles event from 30 targets to 50 targets. This year’s event is already scheduled and notices have already been sent out to the various trap clubs, but the possibility of changing the doubles event will be considered for the 2011 Myrt Wester Shoot.
Arrowhead Shoot: The schedule for the Arrowhead Shoot for the upcoming years is as follows: Hibbing, Ashland, Superior, Cable, Hawthorne,
Myrt Wester Prizes: Although at the 2009 Annual Meeting it was voted to change the awards from actual prizes to cash prizes, a brief discussion took place that it be reviewed again this year during the actual event. A suggestion was made that the participants be polled during sign up of the event on what the preference was for awards; cash or actual prize. Another discussion took place concerning the High Overall event and a vote took place; One High Overall (all classes) – 1; High Overall per Class – 10; Don’t Care – 1. For the 2010 event, a motion was made by Wayne Johnstad and seconded by Dean Verlennich that the 1st place award would be $25.00 and second place to be $15.00 and High Gun per each class would be $25.00. Motion carried.
Junior League Rules: The Junior League Rules are posted on the Website. Their league will begin April 28th with no qualification and there season has no doubles. Youth can shoot back one week and must be done shooting when the season ends. There are two seven week seasons.
Winner of the Douglas County Fish & Game Raffle: The drawing took place for the 2010 Douglas County Fish and Game Raffle. The winner for this year’s event was Dan Carlson of Superior.
Lights on Field Three: Travis Krause reported that there was a light out on field three that needed to be repaired.
2010 Summer Season Pullers: We will have three new pullers this summer season. Catie will work a few Wednesday’s to help train the new pullers. A brief discussion took place regarding paying our pullers by the hour rather than by the squad. A motion was made by Doug Vana and seconded by Kirk Krause to pay the pullers $7.50 per hour/$30.00 per night. Motion carried. Safety issues were discussed regarding the pullers. Reg Southerton and Ralph Rolson will be asked to meet with the pullers to discuss safety issues.
Season BBQ: Carl Vana commented that the Winter BBQ was a big hit and enjoyed by all. He asked that the Board consider a similar type of event to be held later in the season on a Saturday or Sunday. Later in the season, arrangements will be made to have such an event.

A motion was made by Dean Verlennich and seconded by Kirk Krause to adjourn the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.
