2009 Annual Meeting – Summer Banquet

Board Members Present: Pat Martineau, Cindy Gronski, Jerry Bolin, Ed Abrahamzon, Wayne Johnstad, Doug Vana;  Absent Board Member: Jocko Fairchild  Others in Attendance: In addition to the Board Members, thirty-four (34) members were present for the annual meeting.  Several spouses and guests were in attendance as well.  

Call to Order

Following cocktail hour and a feast of great food served by Kurtz Caterers, Ed Abrahamzon, Vice-President, thanked the members and their guests for attending the banquet.  Ed shared with the membership the club’s appreciation for all those who volunteered giving their time and talent to work in the kitchen and on the club house grounds.  He also shared with the membership the results of the fund raising activities that took place this past season.  Ed thanked those who participated in the Fish and Game weekend where the club sold raffle tickets and raised a profit of $392.00.  He also thanked those who participated in the Myrt Wester Shoot which was held on July 23rd and raised a profit of $959.11 and where the raffle ticket sales realized a profit of $1,069.94.  In addition, Ed announced to the members that although we didn’t have a lot of big projects that took place this year, he did thank all those who participated in the raising the garage and installation of the new garage door.  He also noted that the parking lot was filled that past season.  Ed announced that there is a need for volunteers to help out cutting the lawn, working on the pavilion area with gun racks and siding of the garage.  The Superior Trap & Gun Club continued to host an additional night for practice shooting.  Beginning in June thru August, on every other Monday the club opened its doors for practice shooting.  About 10 shooters participated each Monday night the club was opened.

 

Election of Officers

There were two offices up for election, Vice-President and Treasurer.  In addition one director position was up for election as well as the Summer Field Captain position.  Ed opened the floor to nominations for Vice President and Treasurer.

 

A motion was made by Cindy Gronski and seconded by Scott Woerle to nominate Ed Abrahamzon for Vice President.  There being no additional nominees the motion to elect Ed Abrahamzon for Vice President is passed unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Ed Abrahamzon and seconded by Wayne Johnstad to nominate Pat Martineau for Treasuer.  There being no additional nominees the motion to elect Pat Martineau for Treasurer the motion is passed unanimously.

 

The final to positions up for election were Director which was a 3 year term and the Summer Field Captain.  Ed Abrahamzon again opened the floor to nominations.

 

A motion was made by Ed Abrahamzon and seconded by Scott Woerle to nominate Jerry Bolin to a three (3) year term as Director.  There being no additional nominees the motion to elect Jerry Bolin for Director, the motion is passed unanimously.

 

A motion was made by Jerry Bolin and seconded by Scott Woerle to nominate Reggie Southerton as Summer Field Captain.  There being no additional nominees the motion to elect Reggie Southerton as Summer Field Captain, the motion is passed unanimously.  Ralph Rolson was unanimously elected as Assistant Summer Field Captain.

 

Awards Presentation

 

Ed Abrahamzon welcomed all new shooters and two new teams for 2009.  Genesis II and the Office Bar.

 

Congratulations to the Eldorado Team for taking 1st place for the 2009 summer season.  Eldorado members are Jocko Fairchild, Dean Verlennich, Ralph Rolson, Kurt Bjorkland, Dennis Doherty, Pete Granstrom and Don Jones.  The Eldorado team will take on the task again of posting the scores for the 2010 summer season.  Congratulations also to Jens Gregerson for High Gun; Pam Olaf for High Woman and JJ Gregerson for High Junior.  Special honors to Kody Woerle as Most Improved for 2009.  Second Place honors were awarded to Genesis II who also took 1st place in the First Annual Play Off competition.

 

The Superior Trap & Gun Club is the only club in the area that has an active junior program.  This year we had 11 junior members competing against one another, making up three teams.  The first place team winners were Ryan Winkler, JT Vendela and Alan Minter.  Congratulations to Pete Krause for High Junior and Drew Magdzas as Most Improved.

 

Members Who Have Passed On

This past year the Superior Trap & Gun Club lost two long time members.  In March of 2009, we lost Mike LeDoux who began shooting at the club in the early 90s.  Mike gave a lot of his time to the club and was a Hunter Safety instructor as well.  Another shooter, Allen Carroll, passed away in July of 2009.  Allen began shooting for the club in the early 60s.

 

Monster Quest Presentation 

Ed Abrahamzon shared with the membership a brief comical presentation of shooting techniques starring our own Alex Kotter and his unique “call of the targets!”
